FCT ACReSAL Opens Bids for Gwagwalada Land Restoration and Flood Control Projects
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) Project has opened bids for the Land Restoration and Flood Control sites in Gwagwalada Area Council.
The event, which took place at the FCT ACReSAL Project Office in Gwarimpa, was overseen by the Mandate Secretary of the Agriculture and Rural Development Secretariat (ARDS) in the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), Comrade Abdullahi Suleiman Ango, alongside officials of the Project Implementation Unit (PIU) and in the presence of representatives of bidding companies.
In her opening remarks, Mrs. Caroline Opara, the FCT ACReSAL Project Coordinator, emphasized the urgency of the intervention. She noted that the project is strategically designed to reclaim degraded land and mitigate the severe environmental threats facing communities situated along the erosion corridors in Gwagwalada.
Declaring the bid exercise open, the Mandate Secretary of the ARDS, who is also Chairman of the FCT ACReSAL Project Technical Committee, Comrade Abdullahi Suleiman Ango, expressed the appreciation of the FCT Administration for the intervention. He assured the bidding companies that adequate measures have been put in place to ensure a transparent process. In his words: "We are keeping a close eye on the process, and I have charged the Project Coordinator and her team to conduct this exercise with the highest level of integrity. Let no one doubt the fairness of this process. I hereby declare this bid opening exercise open."
The FCT ACReSAL Project Procurement Officer, Engineer Muhammad Auwal Mubi, coordinated the technical phase of the exercise, assisted by members of the PIU. Each bid was announced, recorded, and displayed for transparency. He announced that a total of 12 bids were received to undergo the statutory evaluation process, after which the most qualified company will be selected, subject to due diligence and compliance with the Public Procurement Act.
