The FCT Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) Project has inaugurated Site Implementation Committees for Buga and Kujekwa communities to foster community participation and promote sustainability of ACReSAL Projects in their domains. FCT ACReSAL, Monitoring & Evaluation Officer Mrs. Oluwatoyin Oladoja who led other members of the Implementation Unit (PIU) to the communities, gave this charge at the swearing-in of the committee members on behalf of the FCT Project Coordinator, Mrs. Caroline Opara. Mrs. Oladoja emphasized the need for the members to take the assignment seriously, reminding them of their dual responsibilities not only as representatives of their communities but also serving as ambassadors of ACReSAL. She urged them to uphold the project’s integrity, foster effective communication and collaboration within their respective communities. Her words “through collaboration and community engagement which you are expected to play crucial roles, we will together be building agro-climatic resilience and empowering local farmers.” In his address at the event, FCT ACReSAL Climate Change Officer Mr. Yunusa Boyos congratulated the members stressing the need for them to give in their best to achieve the desired objectives. He expressed hope that the formation of these committees will promote community engagement and participation in the ACReSAL initiatives particularly in fostering sustainable landscape managemental practices to improve the well-being and socio-economic development of the communities.
The inauguration of the Site Implementation Committees for Buga and Kujekwa communities is part of ACReSAL’s broader strategy to enhance community engagement and ensure the success of its projects.
Those sworn in during the event included the Community heads who are to Chair the committees along with the Women and youth leaders, representatives of persons with disabilities, pastoralists, Area Councils and the PIU who are to serve as members.
