The Honourable Minister of State FCT Dr. Mariya Mahmoud has described the ACReSAL Project as a laudable initiative that will impact positively on the lives of Nigerians.
Dr. Mariya made this declaration during a briefing by the management of the Agriculture and Rural Development Secretariat in her office.
She reiterated her determination to ensure that the project is given the necessary administrative support that will enhance the smooth implementationof the project in FCT.
Responding to the Ministers inquiry on the status of the Project in FCT, the Project Coordinator FCT ACReSAL, Mrs. Caroline Opara informed her that the Project was being funded by the World Bank in in collaboration with the Federal Government through the Federal Ministry of Environment and the Water Resources. The Project she added was being coordinated in Nigeria through the Federal Project Monitoring Unit (FPMU)
Mrs. Opara further gave an outline of the Project Development Objective which she said was focused on addressing climate and environmental challenges through the implementation of projects that will pave way for effective landscape management and sustainable agricultural activities in the 19 Northern states and FCT.
She informed the Minister that members of the FCT Project Implementation Committee have undergone series of training to enhance their competencies on their various responsibilities. Mrs Opara assured the Minister that the Committee will strive to make the Administration proud
