The Federal Capital Territory Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) Project has commenced procurement process for the supply of goods, execution of works, and provision of services with the formal opening of tender documents at the Project’s Office in Gwarimpa, Abuja.

The exercise was declared open by Mallam Ishaq Abubakar Sadeeq , Director Administration and Finance of the Agriculture & Rural Development Secretariat (ARDS) in the FCT Administration, who represented Lawan Kolo Geidam , Mandate Secretary, ARDS and Chairman, Technical Committee, FCT ACReSAL.

He reaffirmed the commitment of the FCT administration to the project, stressing the urgent need for the Project to intensify efforts in completing all the necessary procurement processes to facilitate the smooth implementation of the various projects that have been earmarked for the FCT. In his words “it is no longer an excuse that the FCT is joining the project late, all hands must be on deck to ensure that we do the needful to meet up with our counterparts in other states that are participating in the project”.

Sadeeq called on the Project Coordinator and members of the Project Implementation Unit (PIU) to uphold the highest standards of transparency throughout the tendering process to ensure the selection of the most advantageous bids in terms of cost and quality.

In her address earlier, the Project Coordinator, FCT ACReSAL Project, Mrs. Caroline Opara , assured that all necessary measures have been taken by the Project to uphold the integrity of the process relying on the stipulated guidelines embedded in the procurement act.

The PIU she further stated are ready and prepared to move to site with the successful contractors to ensure the timely delivery of the projects which includes; livelihood support to farmers in Wako, Pukafa, Tekpese, Ashara, Ike, Tumada, Tunga Leka communities. Supply of farm inputs such as fertilizers, improved seeds, basic farm materials and approved pesticides. Other projects are enrichment Planting (32Ha) and perimeter fencing of 3 surviving plantations Kuje, Bwari and Gwagwa as well as the engagement of consultant for the study and design of two gully erosion sites, earth dam rehabilitation in Pandagi -Abaji FCT and construction of earth dam in Rafin Zurfi, Gwagwalada Area Council
