The Federal Capital Territory Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) Project Implementation Unit has successfully conducted training for members of the Site Implementation Committee (SIC) across eleven intervention sites in Kutasa Commodity of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC).
According to Mr. Kayode Sanni , the Agricultural Officer of the Project who lead other members the FCT ACReSAL, the training was organised to provide the committee members with a comprehensive skill set and the knowledge essential for the effective implementation, diligent monitoring, and accurate record-keeping of the ACReSAL project activities within their communities.
The training he, added is crucial for maintaining accountability and facilitating effective evaluation of the progress and assessing the impact of projects.
Mr. Sanni further emphasized that the training would thoroughly prepare the members for their roles, which encompasses a detailed Project Description to ensure they clearly understood the project’s objectives, scope, and expected outcomes.
The workshop similarly delved into Farmer’s Group Dynamics, encouraging a sense of collaboration and the intricacies of working cohesively within the groups.
Significantly, the training highlighted the pivotal role of the SIC, outlining the specific responsibilities and essential roles that the Site Implementation Committee members must undertake to ensure the successful execution of the project.
The training sessions were highly interactive with the participants demonstrating their eagerness to learn towards making meaningful contributions to the implementation of the project in their communities.
The presentations by the FCT ACReSAL Team which consisted of the Social Livelihood Officer, Mrs. Mary Iheonu, Monitoring and Evaluation Officer, Mrs. Margaret Oladoja, Natural Resource Officer, Mr. Olalekan Afelola , Forest Officer Mallam Abdul Ibrahim , and Environmental Safety Officer Richard Ogiri focused on the different aspects of the project, providing participants with a well-rounded understanding of the ACReSAL’s goals and their role in achieving them.
The eleven communities that converged at Kutasa for the training included Tungan Gade, Gidan Keanu, Gidan Kaka, Gbo-Mada, Gafaki, Tunga–Mada, Munape, Kutasa, Leka, Angan- mangoro, Iwa.
It may be recalled that the ACReSAL Team had earlier in the week conducted similar training for members of the Site Implementation Committees from communities around Kwali and Abaji area councils at Sheda, Kwali Area Council of the FCT.
