The Federal Capital Territory Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) Project has intensified its efforts to bring Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) training to more communities in the FCT. 
 
The step-down training which is on Food and Agricultural Organisation’s (FAO) Action Against Desertification (AAD) approach to Large Scale Land Restoration aim at enhancing the skills and knowledge of farmers and Extension Agents and galvanize community support for the FAO initiative in the FCT. 
 
Led by Mr. Kayode Sanni,  the Agric Officer of the  Project,  the team consisting of the Social Livelihood Officer (SLO)  Mary Iheonu, Monitoring and Evaluation Officer,  Margaret Oladoja, Forest office Abdul Ibrahim, Natural Resources Officer Olalekan Ifelola and the Communications team were at Buga, Hunu Gade, Huni Gwari ,Darka, Gbanbo and Duda and Kujekwa communities, over the weekend where at each of the locations, they were welcomed by an enthusiastic crowd eager to learn and implement the knowledge shared during the training.
 
 Mr. Kayode emphasized the need for the communities to embrace the FAO initiative and to consider it as an opportunity to take practical actions to mitigate the growing impact of climate change which according to him presents a clear and present danger to human survival.
 
There were presentations on planning, management and sustainability of large landscape restoration as well as on management, processing and marketing of non-timber forest products.
 
Training was also conducted for Site Implementation Committees and executives of CIGs in 7 communities in the communities.
