The Honourable Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, has reiterated the commitment of the FCT Administration to providing sustained support for the implementation of the Agro-Climatic Resilence in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) project in the FCT.

Dr. Mahmoud who is also Chairman of the FCT Steering committee made this affirmation during the inaugural meeting of the Committee.

Dr. Mahmoud highlighted that the FCT, through the Agriculture and Rural Development Secretariat, where the project is domiciled, has diligently met all requirements over the past year which enabled it access the World Bank support for the project.

She commended the Project Implementation Unit (PIU) for its proactive engagement with various communities and encouraged members of the Steering Committee to grasp the Project Development Objectives of ACReSAL. This understanding, she said, would enable them to add value and make significant contributions to the project’s implementation, particularly in the formulation of a work plan that aligns with the needs of the FCT’s populace.

The meeting was attended by Mr. Olusade Adesola, the Permanent Secretary of the FCT, who serves as the Deputy Chairman of the Steering Committee, as well as Lawan Kolo Geidam, the Secretary of the Agriculture and Rural Development Secretariat, who chairs the Technical Committee, Project Coordinator FCT ACReSAL Mrs Caroline Opara and other committee members.
Highpoint of the meeting was a presentation on overview of the ACReSAL project Mukhtar Tanko, Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist from the Federal Project Management Unit (FPMU).
